"Traitor"

Whoa, the White House is already calling McClellan a traitor.

MSNBC’s Kevin Corke reported this afternoon that White House officials, on background, went even further, calling McClellan a “traitor” and likening him to Benedict Arnold.
Just a couple of reminders here:
Article 3, Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
And, let's remember exactly what Arnold did: he offered to surrender a fort to the enemy for money and a commission, and actively fought against his former comrades.

Scotty, on the other hand, wrote a book explaining what everyone already knew.

Still, he'd better watch his back. I hear the Bush dead-enders can be kind of excitable. But seriously, what is actually reprehensible about McClellan is not his coming clean; it's the years of lying he put in beforehand, and the thousands of people who paid with their lives. You can't wash that stain off.

Well, he's either a traitor to the president or he's a traitor to the American people he helped bamboozle by aiding and abetting the effort to subborn and surrender the Constitution.

Keeping silent all through the legal years of Bush's mandate pretty much says what side of the fence he was on.

Why is he coming out now? To get ahead of the wave of prosecutions so he can be considered a witness and not a collaborator? To fend off any attempt by Bush to remain in power by some weird martial law thing? Because he truly believes a few years breathing space means no one will care past spitting at him a bit?
