This Washington prostitution scandal is going to be much bigger than I realized:
There are thousands of names, tens of thousands of phone numbers, and there are people there at the Pentagon, lobbyists, others at the White House, prominent lawyers — a long, long list, and as well, the women who work for the service, David, include university professors, legal secretaries, scientists, military officersThis hasn't been remarked upon much yet, but -- university professors working for an escort service? Now, I'd wager good money that if that is true, the women in question will turn out not to be professors but underpaid adjuncts and sessionals, probably with kids, who took the extra job because they can't support their families in the Washington area on the crappy money that many universities pay such people.
At the same time, I've really got to ask: what were they thinking? There's no way that this wasn't going to come back and bite them. Maybe they felt they didn't have an option.
Well, we'll see.
Update: Oh, oh, here it comes:
Two weeks ago, in court documents about calling former clients to testify on her behalf, Palfrey named Harlan K. Ullman, an academic whose main claim to fame was a scholarly paper he wrote more than a decade ago on the military strategy known as "shock and awe." Responded Ullman: "It doesn't deserve the dignity of a response."I bet.
Sibley also filed notice that he intends to depose political consultant Dick Morris in a separate civil proceeding. Morris would not comment.
